What If Your Screen Never Really Went Dark?

Infinidream.ai turns idle displays into living AI paintings. Free for Mac and Windows

TL;DR: Infinidream.ai is a new Mac and Windows app that plays AI-generated art on your screen as a screensaver or fullscreen display. Add ambient, living energy to your room. Free to try with an account at infinidream.ai.

The Dead Screen Problem

There’s a moment every few hours when your computer just sits there. Screen dark, or worse: showing the time in giant white numerals against a black void, quietly announcing that nothing interesting is happening.

Scott Draves thinks that moment is wasted.

Draves is the creator of Infinidream.ai, a desktop app for Mac and Windows that replaces the dead screen with something alive. Not a slideshow. Not a looping video. Generative AI art from dozens of artists that breathes, shifts, and evolves in real time: as if the painting itself is thinking.

This is not Draves’ first experiment in living art. In 1999 he created Electric Sheep, a distributed screensaver that linked 450,000 computers worldwide into a single networked supercomputer: each machine rendering a piece of an evolving fractal animation that users could vote on, shaping which “sheep” survived and reproduced. The project was shown at  MoMA and LACMA and ran for over two decades. Infinidream is the next chapter: the same instinct for art that evolves and breathes, now powered by AI and available to anyone with a Mac or Windows machine.

Mobile, Not a Photograph

Think of a Calder mobile, or a kinetic sculpture that shifts with the air in the room. Art that is never quite the same twice, that has duration as well as form. Infinidream is that, but on your screen. Each piece slowly drifts, morphs, and cycles through states that feel deliberate but never repeat exactly.

You pick a mood, set the tempo, and let it run. It kicks in automatically as a screensaver when you step away, or you can open it fullscreen and just sit with it. No notifications. No interface. Just the art.

As Much Lighting as a Gallery

Most art asks you to stop and look. Infinidream does the opposite: it runs quietly in the background, shifting so slowly you almost don’t notice until you glance over and realize the whole mood of the room has changed. Or turn up the speed from slow motion to burning fire to suit your mood.

It’s the kind of thing that makes a space feel different without demanding anything from you.

Who Made This

Scott Draves is a New York-based artist and engineer known for pioneering generative and algorithmic art. Infinidream.ai brings together dozens of AI artists across a wide range of styles — moody, abstract, hypnotic, strange — all curated into a single ambient experience.

Try It

Infinidream.ai is available now for Mac and Windows at infinidream.ai. Sign up and start watching in minutes.

Your screen is on anyway. It might as well be beautiful.
